What is the PCI PIN standard?

PCI PIN Security is the security standard defined by Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, and Discover Card Brands for entities involved in processes with Personal Identification Number (PIN) transactions. The latest version of PCI PIN Security is 3.1.

PIN data (Personal Identification Number) provides an authentication method to help protect payments from fraudulent use. The PCI PIN Security standard outlines requirements and testing procedures for the secure management, processing, and transmission of PIN data at both automated teller machines (ATMs) and monitored and unmonitored point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
